
Mike ‘Red’ Sallee 68, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Michael Wayne Sallee was born June 18, 1956 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Orvel and Mildred Juanita McCarty Sallee, was married to the former Cindy Lee Higdon on April 2, 1993 and was better known as ‘Red’ to both his family and friends.
Red served 16 years as McLean County Jailer and was a member of Jireh Church of Jesus Christ in Calhoun. He enjoyed tractor pulls, riding his golf cart all around Calhoun, camping, watching both racing and old western movies, and spending time with both his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by four brothers, Donnie Freels, O.J. Sallee, Roger Sallee, and Steve Sallee; and by two sisters, Patty Mullen and Betty Chambers.
Red is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cindy Sallee; a son, Jesse Payne (Megan) of Philpot; two daughters, Jessica DeVries (Anthony) of Portage, Indiana and Vanessa Yates (Nathan) of Rumsey; seven grandchildren, Bailey Crabtree (Cory Crowe), Breanna Frailley, Jansen Glenn, Katie Frailley, Phoenix Payne, Hailey Shivley, and Kevin Shivley; a sister, Peggy Tanner (Rickey) of Calhoun; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Jireh Church of Jesus Christ; 350 West First Street; Calhoun, Kentucky. Friends may visit with Red’s family from 1:30 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the church. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is handling the arrangements for Red’s family.
