After a long battle with chronic pain and a short battle with Parkinson’s and Dementia, Brian Anthony Flahardy, age 61, of Owensboro, entered into his heavenly home on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Brian passed away under the care of the Heartford House surrounded by his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 41 years, Lisa Flahardy and his children, Bethany (Derrick) Turner of Leitchfield, KY, Faith (Nathan) Humphrey of Utica, Hope (Patrick) Weber of Independence, KY, Kara (Trey) Gates of Utica, and Karissa (Tim) Gates of Utica. He is also survived by his father, David (Nelda) Flahardy of Owensboro and his mother, Vaughnel (Doug) Bebout of Fredonia, KY, and one brother, Chris (Karen) Flahardy of Mt. Sterling, KY and a half-brother, Sean Flahardy of Tennessee. He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Landry Turner, Brady Humphrey, John Tyler Humphrey, Brooks Weber, Elle Weber, Jace Weber, Bryant Gates, and Forrest Gates.
Brian served many years as a Southern Baptist Minister. He held a Bachelor’s of Arts in the field of Christian Ministries from Southwest Baptist University, a Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and his Doctorate of Christian Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary of Louisville, KY. Brian pastored Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Lockwood, MO, Central Baptist Church in McNeil, MS, Parrish Avenue Baptist Church in Owensboro, and planted New Focus Community Church, which is now Pleasant Valley Community Church of Owensboro, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025 at Crosspointe Baptist Church. Visitation is from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Private burial will be held at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
