
Betty June Alvey, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest. She was born December 9, 1933 in Muhlenberg County to the late Ottra and Bessie Coffman. Betty and her family moved to Owensboro when she was 7 years old. She retired from Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital as a Sterile Processing Technician. Betty had numerous interests including she enjoyed crafting, painting and cooking. She would watch The Food Network and try new recipes from some on the show. Betty loved to talk about the Bible and how the Lord always blessed her. She also would listen to gospel music and sing along. Betty and her husband, Jim, enjoyed camping and fishing together. They would take their motorhome to Florida and stay for several months.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jim Alvey; son, Billy Ray Alvey; infant daughter, Suzanne; granddaughter, Emily Suzanne Piersall; great-grandson, Brady Lee Alvey; five sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by two sons, Eddie Alvey (Vicki) and Mike Alvey (Kathy); nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025 James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
