Stephen Riley Steitler, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born on August 2, 1933 in Somerset, KY to the late Charles Edward Steitler and Mary Louise Elliott Steitler. Riley operated Office Equipment for 28 years then opened Riley’s Office Products in 1977 and retired in 2020. He was president of Noon Optimist Club and very involved in the Chamber of Commerce. After retirement, Riley was involved with Meals on Wheels for 17 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Doris “Dot” Steitler; a daughter, Lisa Ann Steitler; and brothers, Charles Steitler and Louis “Brogie” Steitler.
He is survived by a son, Steve Steitler; two daughters, Katie Williams (David) and Brenda Vincent; half-brother, Bob O’Bryan (Carol); six grandchildren, Holly Chapman, Neal Chapman, Jennifer Dudley, Bethany Vincent, Natalie Richardson and Jessica Swanson; four great-grandchildren, Parks, Olivia, Wilder, and Layla; several nieces and nephews; and a bonus family member, Roger Vincent.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory with Myke Templeton officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
