
Robert “Robbie” Armon Holder, 64, of Owensboro, passed away on February 17, 2025. A proud native of Daviess County, he was born on April 8, 1960, to the late Marvin Holder and Judie Midkiff-Engelmyer. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy as an AK-3 aboard the U.S.S. Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) from 1980 to 1983. During his service, he earned the distinguished titles of Shellback and Bluenose and was awarded the Navel Expeditionary Medal. Beyond his military service, Robbie was a passionate advocate for fellow veterans, offering his support and guidance to those in need. Robbie’s love for music and songwriting was another defining aspect of his life, leading him to travel both nationally and internationally to raise money for disabled veterans. He was also a beloved figure in the Owensboro community, dedicating his time as a Pop Warner football coach and as an assistant coach at Owensboro High School. Through his mentorship, he profoundly impacted the lives of many young athletes. Robbie retired from Swedish Match after 28 years of dedicated work. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Robbie was preceded in death by his infant son, Joshua Thomas Holder.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 44 years, Belva Jean Holder; children, Cody Holder, Jesse Holder, and Jake Holder; brother, Ricky Holder; grandchildren, Jayci, Olivia, Cody Jr., Taylor, and Jonah; nephews, Terry and Travis Holder; as well as many other loving family and friends.
A celebration of life to honor Robbie will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday February 24, 2025, at the VFW Post 696, 311 W. Veterans Blvd., Owensboro, KY 42301.
