John M. Shutt

John M. Shutt 89, of Russellville, Kentucky; formerly of Island passed away peacefully on the afternoon of his 89th birthday on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Joseph ‘Eddie’ Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. John Maynard Shutt was born February 17, 1936 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late Maynard Belmont and Malvina Colson Shutt, was married to the former Janice Lou Powell on May 25, 1957, and was better known as ‘Johnny’ to both his family and friends.

Johnny was a food salesman, starting his sales career with Central City Produce, then the Keebler Company and later retiring from the Nunn Milling Company. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Island Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Carol Shutt.

Johnny is survived by his wife of 67 years, Janice Shutt; two sons and their wives, John Kevin and Theresa Shutt of Scottsville and Jeffrey Allen and Barbie Shutt of Owensboro; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica Elizabeth and Peter Webber, Justin Allen Richard and Miranda Shutt, Jonathan Mclean and Rebecca Shutt, and Jacob Ethan and Taylor Shutt; four great grandchildren, Jason Shutt, Jordynn Shutt, Joshua Shutt, and Graham Webber; and a sister, Mitzi Labriola of Jamaica, New York.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Island Baptist Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with Johnny’s family from 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday at Musters in Livermore.

The family would like to express their sincere thank you to the entire staff of the Joseph ‘Eddie’ Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson for their personal attention and loving care of Johnny.
