Marvin "Joe" Thomson

Marvin “Joe” Thomson, 76, of Philpot passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Joe was born in Owensboro on January 23, 1943 to Warner and Bessie McAtee Thomson. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Joe was formerly a member of the U.S. Navy and drove 18 wheelers for 43 years. He enjoyed farming and driving 18 wheelers.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Thomson, and his sister, Jean Thomson.

Joe is survived by his first wife and the mother of his children, Pat Durbin, his children, Jody Thomson of Owensboro, Anna (Jeff) Gordon of Nashville, Tennessee, Kaye (Kevin) Hurley, Chuckie Thomson, Jennifer (David) Thomson all of Louisville, James Thomson of Philpot; his step-children, Keisha (Fred) Chism, Bryan (Tammy) Hamilton; 20 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his sister, Sheila Thomson, his brothers, Francis (Doloris) Thomson, Steve (Donna) Thomson, Richard (Belinda) Thomson all of Owensboro, Larry Thomson of Los Angeles, California, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Father Pat Reynolds officiating. Burial to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, and again from 9:30 am to 10:30 am Thursday at the funeral home. Prayers will be 6:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
