
Emma Lee Garrett, born on November 18, 1942, to John E. Steele and Edna Campfield Steele, peacefully went home to be with her Savior on January 22, 2025, at 8:17 PM, surrounded by her loving family.
Emma was a woman of unshakable faith and maintained a deep, personal relationship with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved her family dearly and cherished her friends and church family. Emma’s life was a testament to love, faith, and devotion, and her legacy of kindness and strength will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter, Patricia Jane Garrett; her devoted husband of 60 years, Vermon Lee Garrett; and her sisters, Hilda Dee Staples and Stella Marie Knight.
Emma leaves behind a family who adored her. She is survived by her sons: Robert (Elizabeth) Garrett of the Philippines, Teddy Garrett of Louisiana, and Marcus (Martha) Garrett of Drakesboro. She is also survived by her sister, Wanda (Buddy) Scott, and her brother, Floyd (Beverly) Steele.
Her grandchildren were a source of immense joy: Johnathon (Gena) Garrett, Josh (Stephanie) Garrett, Jennifer (David) Phillips, and Tiffani (Logan) Logsdon. She also cherished her great-grandchildren: Noah Garrett, Nate Garrett, Madilyn “Ellie” Garrett, Raelynn Logsdon, Gunnar Logsdon, Caroline (Johnathan) Boites, and Hailey (Sampson) Goatee. Adding to her blessings were her beloved great-great-grandchildren: Marilynn Goatee, Maeson Goatee, Immanuel “Manny” Adkins, and Wrenleigh Boites.
Emma’s presence, faith, and love will be deeply missed but fondly remembered. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her Savior and loved ones who have gone before her.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 at Gary’s Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Allen officiating. Burial will follow at New Harmony Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday January 27th, 2025 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY and on Tuesday, January 28th from 11:00 AM till time of funeral service.
