
Thomas Arthur Cecil, Jr., 93, of Owensboro passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025. He was born on May 9, 1931, in West Louisville, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Irene Cecil. Tom was married to Mary Louise “Easie” Cecil, whom he loved dearly, and they were married for 64 years until her passing in 2014.
He retired from Swedish Match in Owensboro. Tom loved his faith, his family, and playing dominoes. He was a skilled woodworker and able to repair anything that was broken. His beautiful quilt racks are displayed in many homes across the entire country and for many years, he made wooden Christmas ornaments for each of his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Marion and Martin Cecil; sisters, Leona Cecil (Sr. Mary Irene) and Winnie Riney; his grandson, Brian Storm; and great-grandsons, Patrick and Aidan Cecil.
His seven children survive him, Gary Cecil (Imelda) of West Louisville, KY, John Cecil (Davena) of Owensboro, KY, Carolyn Sue Cecil of St. Louis, MO, Alan Cecil (Karen) of Greenwood, IN, Mary Lou Storm (Bob) of Maceo, KY, Diane Bowers (Tom), and Dale Cecil (Lisa) all of Owensboro, KY. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral Mass for Tom Cecil will be at 11 a.m. Friday January 10, 2025, at Immaculate Catholic Church with Father John Vaughan presiding. Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. Thursday with prayers at 6 p.m. and also from 9 until 10:30 a.m. on Friday all at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
