Amelia Ruth Napier, 85, of Owensboro, passed away on December 20, 2024. She was born in Owensboro on October 24, 1939, to the late James “Dooney” Beaven Jr, and Margaret Durbin Beaven. Ruth will be remembered for the time she spent with her family. Ruth cherished family reunions, cookouts, and gatherings that brought everyone together. Her home was always open, and she loved hosting loved ones for good food, laughter, and meaningful connection. The memories created during these times will be forever cherished by those who were lucky enough to share in them. Ruth had a deep love for gardening, spending many hours tending to her flowers and enjoying the peace and beauty that nature provided. She also had a passion for photography, capturing moments that told stories and highlighted the simple joys of life. Ruth had a menagerie over the years of her loving cats and beloved dogs that she loved like her kids.
In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Napier; her daughter, MaryAnn Napier Saddler; her sisters, Jane Hagan (Donnie), and Doris “Darce” Sweeney; her nephew, Jamie Payne, and her niece, Ann Marie Hagan.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Denise (Bobby) Napier Barrett; her grandchildren, Jennifer Brooke (Scott) Barrett Lee, Robert Franklin (Casey) Barrett, Shauna Nicole (Donald) Saddler-Hayes, and Jamie Anne (Travis) Saddler-Barnett; her great-grandchildren Madison Jones, Lenora Hayes, Julian Moseley, and Jaxon Barnett; her siblings Jimmy (Pat) Beaven, Brenda (Danny) Payne and Tommy Beaven; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon, on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, with Father Daniel officiating. Entombment to follow at Rosehill Elmwood Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
