
Sherrie Kay Erwin, 66, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the VA Hospital, in Charleston, South Carolina. She was born, on February 16, 1958, in Owensboro, to Lois I. Erwin and the late James P. Erwin.
Sherrie was a graduate of Apollo High School – Class of 1976, Western Kentucky University, and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. In April of 1983, she joined the US Navy and proudly served for 13 years at various naval bases, both stateside and internationally.
In 1996, she received an honorable medical discharge from the Navy. Returning to civilian life, Sherrie went to work for G-2 Aviation Services and was promoted to General Manager in 2020.
Sherrie is preceded in death by her father, James P. Erwin. She is survived by her mother, Lois I. Erwin, and sisters, Karen Ruen, Linda Erwin, Vicki Boone, and Cindy Lynn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home, with Father John Vaughan officiating. Entombment will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Donations can be made in honor of Sherrie to the Owensboro Humane Society at 3101 W. 2nd St., Owensboro Kentucky 42301. Donation and mass envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
