Rosa Lee ‘Rosie’ Appleby, 89, of Owensboro passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on August 5, 1935 in Owensboro to the late Clarence Melvin and Mary Galloway Hodskins. Rosie was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Appleby; daughter, Starla Warren; and siblings, Audrey Fogle, Wilma Farmer, Joyce Calhoun, Joseph Hodskins, Kenneth Hodskins, Eckless Hodskins, Ivo Hodskins, and Genola Payne.
Survivors include her sons; Randy Lowe (Cassondra), David Appleby (Cindy), and Rick Appleby (Diane); daughters, Vickie Palmer, Betty Appleby, and Latara Appleby; 10 grandchildren, Madison Cooper, Makayla Lowe-Sikes, Sara Appleby, Ginny Ball, Lauren Appleby Mims, Lindsay Appleby Keeton, Kristen Varon, Michael Simon, Chris Palmer, and Cary Palmer; 15 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dot Drury, Doris Westerfield, Jean Edwards, and Pat Jackson.
Services will be at 10:00am on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home.
