Elizabeth “Ann” Ward, 81, of Owensboro, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024 at her home. She was born February 20, 1943 in Owensboro to the late William Thomas Lambert and Florence Myrle Powell Lambert. After her birth mother’s death, Ann was raised by the late Lauritta Lambert. She was a member of Dundee Baptist Church. Ann enjoyed playing cards, reading, quilting, caring for others, and was always ready with a joke.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, James V. “P.I.” Ward; daughter, Anna Merle Ward; and a brother, David Lambert.
She is survived by her children, Patty VanBussum (Tommy), Jimmy Ward (Vivian), Scotty “Scooter” Ward, Marvin Ward, and Rita Merritt; grandchildren, Adam Renfrow, Erica Smith, Ashley Ward, Niki Stewart, Derick Bratcher, Josh Merritt, Whitney Merritt, Michael Ward, Helen Merritt, and Taylar Ray; siblings, Dale Lambert, Helena Redman, Brenda Cooper, Mary Evans, Janet Smith , and Randy Lambert; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Brionna, McKenzie, Madelynn, Joey, Miley, Easton, Journey, Morgan, and Raylan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Cecil Funeral Home. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
