Wanda Snodgrass 89, of Falls of Rough, Kentucky passed away Monday, November 18, 2024 at her home. Wanda Rhea Little was born April 7, 1935 in Central City, Kentucky to the late John Burch and Esther Lorraine Hocker Little, was raised by her step father, Thurmond Porter, and was married to William Darvis Snodgrass on September 19, 1951.
Professionally, Wanda was a respected and dedicated family service worker with Audubon Area Head Start, where she retired after many years of compassionate service. Her commitment to the well-being of families and children in her community was unwavering, and her impact on those she helped was profound and lasting.
Wanda’s interests were a reflection of her vibrant spirit and love for life. She was an avid reader, finding solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. Working jigsaw puzzles was another of Wanda’s favorite pastimes, a testament to her patience and attention to detail. However, her passion for the University of Kentucky sports was unmatched, and she could often be found cheering on her beloved Wildcats with the same fervor and loyalty she devoted to her family and work.
Wanda’s life was a tapestry of enduring relationships, selfless service, and joyful pursuits. She embraced her roles with grace and strength, leaving a legacy of love and resilience. Her laughter, wisdom, and nurturing presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Col. Darvis Snodgrass, who died January 11, 2009 and by her brother, John Milton ‘Topper’ Little.
Wanda’s legacy is carried on by her devoted children, William ‘Rick’ Snodgrass (Patricia Bridges) of Madisonville, and Vickie Rhea Morris (Edward) of Livermore. Her role as a grandmother was one of her most treasured, as she was adored by her grandchildren, Edward ‘Joey’ Morris and Courtney Marae Snodgrass Steele (Tristan). Her joy multiplied with the birth of her great-grandchildren, Edward Darvis Morris, Mia Dawn Steele, Katherine Eloise Morris, and Raylee Marae Steele, each of whom brought immense happiness and pride into her life. Wanda is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Little of Livermore, several nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
