Katja Jones Tarullo, age 72, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Columbus, OH, went home to be with her Lord on November 12, 2024, in Lewisport, KY, after a brief illness, passing peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 31, 1952, in Obernburg, West Germany, to Ernest and Lieselotte Jones, Katja’s gentle spirit and unwavering kindness reflected her deep faith and love for others.
A talented hair stylist and devoted homemaker, Katja had a natural gift for making everyone feel beautiful, both inside and out. She loved sharing her artistic gifts through crafting, filling her home and the homes of loved ones with handmade creations that brought warmth and joy. Her beloved dogs were her constant companions, and her family and friends were the joy of her life. Known for her openness and compassion, Katja never met a stranger, embodying Christ’s love in every relationship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Tarullo; her parents, Ernest, and Lieselotte Jones; and her beloved niece, Misty Jones Nelson. We take comfort in knowing they are reunited in the arms of our Savior.
Those left to cherish her memory include her dear brothers, Ernie (Wendy) Jones and Ron (Janet) Jones; her cherished niece Nicole (Ryan) Johnson and nephew Ronnie (Erin) Jones; her stepchildren, Mickey Tarullo, Perry Tarullo, and Tracy (Keith) Simpson; She is also survived by her grandchildren, numerous other nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved in-laws, who considered her family in the truest sense.
Katja’s legacy of love and faith lives on in her cousins, Burtis “Skippy” Hawes, Tina Hawes, Tracey Hawes Lee, and Brian Hawes. Her church family and many friends, who she held close to her heart, remember her as a gentle light and a compassionate soul.
As we mourn her earthly departure, we find peace in the hope of the resurrection and the promise of eternal life. Her presence will be missed deeply, but her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched. We rejoice that she is now at rest in God’s heavenly kingdom.
Memorial Service will be on December 7, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
