
James Lee Hardin, 91, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 at his home. He was born October 5, 1933 in Daviess County to the late Chester and Louise Allen Hardin. He worked as a coal miner at Green Coal Company until retirement. Jimmy had a passion for bluegrass music, golf, traveling and time with family. His positive attitude and sense of humor were contagious by all who knew him. Jimmy was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Glenna Crabtree, Verna Plank, Leona Eastland, Kenneth Hardin, Carl Hardin; and grandchild, Chase Hardin.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Hardin; children, Richard Hardin (Brenda), Mark Hardin (Bliss), Tamara Sheldon (Greg) and Traci Mitchell (Mike); 7 grandchildren, Lindsey Darnell, Tara Foreman, Travis Jones, Reed Mitchell, Cody Hardin, Jessica Mitchell, and Eric Hardin; 11 great-grandchildren, Presley, Caleb, Megan, Jayden, Payton, Kash, Brody, Braxton, Sonny, Kate and Colette; siblings, Lyndell Hardin, Eddie Hardin, Ann Herrell, and Donna Sue Hardin; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cat, Honey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
