
Hubert Thomas “Tommy” Board, 69, of Owensboro, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 12, 2024. He was one of seven children, born to the late Hubert E. and Mary (Freels) Board on June 17, 1955. Tommy graduated from Owensboro High School in 1974. He served in a variety of capacities during his working career, including for companies such as Kight Lumber Company, 84 Lumber, Schrecker Supply Company, Paint Headquarters, and Waco Scaffolding and Equipment. Tommy became a competent tire salesman, selling tires for Tire Mart, Purcell Tire of Henderson, Bobby’s Tire and Mechanical, and Purcell Tire of Owensboro.
In the 1990s, Tommy was proud to be the founder and owner of the HBA (Hubie’s Basketball Association), where local companies formed teams to compete weekly at the Cliff Hagan Boys and Girls Club in Owensboro. Tommy was a member of the Pleasant Memorial Baptist Church of Owensboro, where he attended regularly.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Mary Board; three sisters, Brenda Crowe, Kathy Sowders, and Judy Clements; and one brother, Joseph Board.
Tommy is survived by five sons, Robert Board, of Monterey, Indiana, Ethan (Danielle) Board, Luke Board, Heath Board, and Lance Board, all of Owensboro; one daughter, Audra Mayfield, of Owensboro; four grandchildren, Greyson Board, Collin Board, Ashlyn Board, and Adaline Polston, all of Owensboro; two sisters, Margie Cook and Pat Richards; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
