
Shirley S. Cook, 89, of Owensboro, went to be with her Lord and savior on Friday October 4, 2024, at her home while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky, and surrounded by the love of her family. She was born March 3, 1935, in Stanley, KY, to the late A.O. Sapp and Sudie Carrie Crask Sapp. Shirley was a hard worker and a devout Christian. She enjoyed cooking, baking bread, boating, and socializing. Shirley and her husband, Tyler, were charter members of Masonville Baptist Church and most recently attended Apollo Heights Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, she is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tyler Cook in 2004; a grandson, William Hancock; sister, Mildred Reynolds; and a brother, Jerry Sapp.
Shirley is survived by her three children, Melanie Jo Hancock, Alicia Caryl Cook, and Timothy Shea Cook; four grandchildren, Lynell, Gary, Amanda, and Tyler Shea; five great-grandchildren, Whitney, Keely, Landon, Jordan, and William Tyler; two great-great-grandchildren, Julian and Madelyn; and four sisters, Jackie, Jill, Sandra, and Donna; as well as countless nephews, nieces, cousins, and church family.
The funeral service for Shirley Cook will be at 4 p.m. Friday October 11, 2024, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 12 until 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sorgho Cemetery.
