Clates ‘Yogi’ Render 81, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Monday, October 7, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Clates Ray Render was born January 13, 1943 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Emit and Elsie Frailey Render, was married to the former Vonell Sinnett on April 20, 1964, and was affectionately known as ‘Yogi’ to both his friends and family.
Yogi retired as a foreman from the former Brenner’s Carpets, a role in which he demonstrated his work ethic and commitment to service. His contributions to the workplace were significant and long-lasting, and the impact of his work remained evident even after his retirement.
Yogi’s involvement in his community was marked by his sociable nature and his desire to connect with others. He was known for his radiant smile that could light up any room and his genuine interest in the lives of those around him. His presence was a source of comfort happiness to many.
An avid gardener, Yogi found joy in the beauty of nature. His garden was a reflection of his care and attention to detail, flourishing under his green thumb. But above all, Yogi’s greatest pleasure was the time he spent with his family and friends. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or simply enjoying each other’s company, those moments were the ones he cherished most.
Throughout his life, Yogi demonstrated a remarkable ability to make those around him feel loved and valued. His positive outlook on life, even in the face of challenges, was an inspiration to all who knew him. Yogi’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and the importance of relationships. It’s a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.
Yogi is survived by his wife of 60 years, Vonell Render; two sons, Billy Render (Stacy) of Owensboro and James ‘Bear’ Render (Shannon) of Calhoun; eight grandchildren, Cody Render (Kasey), Trenton Render, Hannah Trogden, Danielle Hardison (Brent), Blake Sumner, Jaret Sumner, Brittany Wettstain (Erick), and Erika Cecil (Justin); 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Tomes (Paul) of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, October 11, 2024 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Yogi’s family from 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Friday at Musters in Calhoun.
