He attended Daviess County High School, graduating with the class of 1958. At 17 years of age, he proudly served in the US Navy and rose to the rank of Radar Equipment Foreman (RD3) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp stationed at Boston, MA. Jim met the love of his life, Patsy Holder in November 1985 and married his bride in May 1986 with a flame that lasted over 38 years until his passing. He was a church-going man who loved the Lord and often served as an usher on his Sunday devotions at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Jim was known as one of the kindest and most gentle souls anyone could ever meet. A well-dressed man, he was known for his infectious smile, a joke always ready on his lips, and unwavering love for his family. A man who relished the simple pleasures of life. Even in his later years, Jim maintained his sharp wit and sense of humor, bringing joy to those around him. He is surely soaring with the angels now, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
