Elizabeth “Betty” Garrigus Baird, 85 of Owensboro, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at her home. Betty was born on May 9, 1939 in Lexington, KY to the late Dr. Wesley P. Garrigus and Helen Robbins Garrigus. She was a graduate of Lexington Lafayette High School and attended the University of Kentucky. Betty was a former owner of Movie Warehouse and Longhorn Tack and Apparel. A faithful member of Panther Creek Baptist Church, Betty was devoted to her family and possessed a generous spirit and giving heart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Robert Garrigus of Murfreesboro, TN.
Survivors include her children, Jane (Ronnie) Crumbaker of Island, Joyce (Scott) Ashby of Owensboro, and David (Leigh Ellen) Baird of Cape Coral, FL; six grandchildren, Andy Crumbaker, a step grandson, Ron (Martha) Crumbaker, Lauren (Mike) Fitzmaurice, Kristen (Scott) Lewis, Wesley (Katharine) Baird, and Philip (Justine) Baird; nine great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren, a brother, James (Sheila) Garrigus of Marietta, GA and a sister-in-law, Janice Garrigus of Murfreesboro, TN and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be noon on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Panther Creek Baptist Church, 7146 US 431, Owensboro, KY, visitation will be from 11:00 until the time of service on Saturday.
