David W. Payne, 55, of Owensboro, passed away July 25, 2024, at his home while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born March 23, 1969 in Daviess County to the late William X. and Grace Morton Payne. David was retired from the Regional Water Resource Agency after 26 years as an inspector. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson who called him “Pops”, horse racing, drag racing, and being the life of a party. David also loved football especially the San Francisco 49er’s. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, William Payne and Scott Payne.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Amy Cecil Payne; two sons, Jared Payne (Alyssa Koger) and Garret Payne (Brooke Keller) all of Owensboro; a grandson, Liam Payne; a brother, James Payne and wife Michelle of Bryan , Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for David will be from 3 PM until 7 PM Monday, July 29 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
