
James Brent Cahal, beloved husband, father, Pappaw and brother, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Father in Heaven on June 30, 2024 after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born February 12, 1952 to Shirley and Bessie Jean Cahal. A dedicated family man, Brent was an excellent father and even better Pappaw. His family was his pride and joy, and he always prioritized their happiness and well-being above his own.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Anita Hughlene Emmick Cahal, his children, Jenny (Jeff) Shultz and Vanessa (Brad) Rowan, his grandchildren, Jacob and Emily Shultz , Landon Burcham, Makayla and Emerie Rowan and his sister, Lisa (Steve) Rice. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Brent had a passion for fishing that spanned his entire life. He was not only an excellent angler but also an artist in his own right, crafting his own fishing lures with skill and creativity. His love for the sport was infectious, and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experiences with others. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast and in his younger years, enjoyed exploring the open road on his Harley.
A devoted member of Lewisport Baptist Church, Brent’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. He drew strength and comfort from his community, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Though he faced many health challenges, he stayed true to his character, remaining resilient and strong while maintaining a sense of humor.
In his final moments, Brent was surrounded by the love of his family and secure in the promise of eternal peace without pain. His memory will live forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Lewisport Baptist Church with burial following in Lewisport Cemetery. Brent’s family will be greeting friends on Tuesday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel from 3 pm until 7 pm and on Wednesday from 9 am until service time at Lewisport Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewisport Baptist Church Food Pantry Ministry.
