
Carl Dean Boyd, 86, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Saturday, June 29, 2024. He was born on June 2, 1938 in Elba in McLean County, Kentucky to the late James Earl “Babe” Boyd and Ruth Frances Walker Boyd. On August 25, 1964, Carl married the love of his life, Suzanne Barnett of Central City, Kentucky. They had three children, Mark Allen, Janet Ruth, and Carl Wayne. At an early age, Carl felt the call on his life to be a preacher, and spent his life serving God and pastoring at multiple churches of the Southern Baptist faith in California, Kentucky and Indiana. He was also a school teacher for several years during his early life. Carl served in the United States Army Reserves.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Barnett Boyd; and three brothers, Jim Boyd, David Boyd and Robert Boyd.
Survivors include his sons, Mark Boyd and Carl W. Boyd (Chris); daughter, Janet Boyd; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Boyd and Ronald Boyd; and multiple cousins, nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. noon on Friday, July 5, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery in Central City, KY. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Carl was known and loved for his humble spirit, giving heart, and epic stories. He will be missed by his family and friends.
