Challen Ray Mason, Sr. age 81 of Hardinsburg, KY passed away June 26, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Cameron, WV on June 3, 1943, son of the late Hobart and Edith Slonaker Mason. Challen retired from Texas Gas Transmissions where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Lone Star Church of Christ. Challen was a former city council member, mayor and fire chief for the City of Hardinsburg. He had many interests that include camping, antique cars, deer hunting, softball, as well as other sports. He never met a stranger and always greeted you with a smile. He loved his family and they loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Brandon Mason and daughter-in-law Carnell Mason.
Challen is survived by his wife Patsy of Hardinsburg, KY
2 children: Sonny Mason of SeRee, KY and Pam Mason of Hardinsburg, KY
2 grandchildren: Jennifer and Jessica
7 great grandchildren: Haley Jo, Noah, Quincy, Kennedy, Eric, Khloe and Bradley
1 brother: Jack (Wilda) Mason of Moundsville, WV
1 sister: Peggy Dillard of Altoona, AL
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 5:30 PM with burial in the Ivy Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 PM on Tuesday.
