Perry Newcom, 81, of Philpot, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019. He was born on September 23, 1937 in Ohio County to the late Randall Newcom and Thelma Wallace Newcom. Perry was retired from Western Kentucky Gas. He coached softball and baseball at Philpot Playgrounds for several years. Perry loved spending time with his family and friends, camping and horseback riding. He volunteered for several years for the Ohio County Equestrian Club. After his retirement, he joined his beloved wife’s Judy’s hobby of quilt making.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Judith Mesplay Newcom, on August 25, 2015; and his brother, Charles Newcom.
Survivors include a son, Steve (Shelley) Newcom of Philpot; a daughter, Candi (Jeff) Myers of Philpot; grandchildren, Brad (Kym) Newcom of Madisonville, Keaton Newcom of Philpot, Jaime (Jared) Martin of Owensboro, Gwyndolyn Crowe of Philpot and Trent Russelburg of Louisville; six great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Jack (Julia) Mesplay of Owensboro.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at James H Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
