Mary Lou Nolan, 70, of Owensboro passed away suddenly Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. The Daviess County native was born September 17, 1953, to the late Louis Calvin Taylor and Mary Gertrude Cox Taylor. Mary Lou graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School, class of 1971 and attended the Owensboro Business College. When her son was in the second grade, she worked in many capacities and for over 12 years at Highland Elementary School from teachers aide to the cafeteria. She loved children and loved being around them. Mary Lou enjoyed camping and traveling all over the country. She always needed to know where she was so she was the map reader. Many would describe her as a saint and kind soul who loved to serve others, but the best description of Mary Lou was “Queen of the Garage Sale”. She loved going to them and having them herself, often donating items to the Help Office where she also worked occasionally.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 52 years, Larry Nolan; daughter, Tracy Nolan-Pollock (Tom) of Bowling Green; son, Derek Nolan (Whitley Renfrow and her son, Brayden) of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Katie and Gunnar Nolan.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 pm Friday, June 21 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm and Friday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
