
Jimmie Rickard 77, of Sacramento, Kentucky passed away Monday, June 17, 2024 at his home. Jimmie Douglas Rickard was born August 2, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Clynard Andrew and Mary Hazel Arnold Rickard and was married to the former Joyce Lou Embry on December 2, 1988. Jimmie was a man whose life was marked by dedication, service, and the deep love he had for his family and country.
Jimmie proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. His bravery and commitment to his nation were hallmarks of his character, traits that he carried with him throughout his life.
After his military service, Jimmie returned home and eventually settled in Sacramento. Professionally, Jimmie dedicated many years of service to the MPD of Owensboro. His work ethic and integrity were evident to all who worked alongside him. Even after retirement, Jimmie remained active, embracing his role as a life-long farmer. His hands were rarely still, as he found solace and joy in the rhythm of the seasons and the growth of the crops.
Away from work, Jimmie had a variety of interests that kept him engaged with life’s simple pleasures. In his earlier years, he was an avid fisherman, finding peace and tranquility by the water. His adventurous spirit shone through in his love for riding his motorcycle, a pastime that brought him a sense of freedom and excitement. Jimmie was also a dedicated fan of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and ‘The Waltons,’ enjoying the comfort and nostalgia of his favorite shows.
Jimmie was a man of faith and was an attendee of the Sacramento Baptist Church. His beliefs guided him throughout his life, providing him with strength and comfort during both the good times and the difficult ones.
Jimmie was a man who embodied the values of honor, dedication, and love. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories told by those who knew him best. Jimmie’s legacy is one of resilience, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. His journey will continue in the hearts of those who loved him.
In addition to his parents, Jimmie was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Rickard.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joyce Rickard; three sons, Duane Rickard (Lora) of Otwell, Indiana, Joseph Hudson of Sacramento and John Howard (Jennifer) of Tullahoma; a daughter, Lisa Marie Rickard (Josh Kinney) of Westfield, Indiana; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne Rickard (Anna) of Gallatin, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with Jimmie’s family from 10:30 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Musters in Calhoun.
