
Jack Burden 89, of Livermore, Kentucky passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Riverside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Calhoun. Jackie Glenn Burden was born August 21, 1934 in Calhoun, Kentucky to the late Forest A. and Geneva Riley Burden, was married to the former Mary Lois Shocklee until her death on April 26, 1981, was later married to the former Sarah Jean Hicks until her death on July 12, 2011, and was better known as ‘Jack’ to both his family and friends. Jack’s life was marked by his steadfast character, a deep love for his family, and an unwavering commitment to his community.
Jack was a man who embodied the virtues of hard work and dedication. He retired as a respected foreman from the T.V.A. Paradise Plant, where his leadership and expertise were valued by all who worked alongside him. His professional accomplishments were matched by his service to his country as a U.S. Army Veteran, a period of his life that forged in him a sense of duty and honor.
Beyond his work and service, Jack was a man of many interests and talents. His hands were as skilled in the tranquility of woodworking and the patience of farming as they were in the intricacies of being an excellent mechanic. He found joy in the simple pleasures of fishing, a pastime that offered him both relaxation and the opportunity for reflection. Jack was also an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan, his enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and game days were always a special occasion in the Burden household.
Jack’s faith was an integral part of his life. As a long-standing member of the Richland Baptist Church, he served both as a treasurer and as the caretaker of the Richland Baptist Cemetery, roles that spoke to his deep sense of responsibility and his desire to give back to the community that he held so dear.
Jack cherished every moment spent with his family and friends, his presence a comforting and loving constant in their lives. His laughter, wisdom, and the stories he shared will be deeply missed but will continue to resonate with all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jack Burden’s journey through life was one of purpose, love, and service. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be cherished as a blessing to all.
In addition to his parents and two wives, Jack was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Seamans; by six brothers, Gene, Mervin, Billy, Richard, Les, and Gerald Burden; and by three sisters, Wilma Williams, Ruth Patterson, and Doris Burden.
Jack is survived by a daughter, Tammie Wells of Calhoun; a step son, Greg Graham (Pixie) of Estero, Florida; a step daughter, Becky Strode (David) of Greenville; five grandchildren, Shelly Tat, Lindsey Graham, Brandon Adkins (Ashley), Toshua Anderson (Jessica), and Keisha Onan; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margie Haney (Mike) of Fordsville.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Jack’s family from 10:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Musters in Livermore.
