John Michael "Pup" Young Obituary 2019

John Michael “Pup” Young, 64, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 under the care of the Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Daviess County on May 2, 1954 to the late John Jacob Young and Elnora Smith Young. He was a laborer for Green River Steel for over 27 years, and went on to be an operations technician for Kimberly Clark for 15 years. Pup was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church. He enjoyed mowing his yard, U of L Basketball, the St. Louis Cardinals, golfing, and on May 24th of 2011, he got a hole in one at Ben Hawes on the 12th hole.

Pup is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cindy Hester Young, his children, Tiffany Brooke Young of St. Petersburg, Florida, Brittany (Travis) Newman of Owensboro, Kentucky, his grandchildren, Skylar Newman, Ella Newman, his brother, Glenn (Joyce) Young, of Owensboro, 2 aunts, 2 nieces, 2 great-nieces, and 1 great-nephew.

Services will be 10:00 am Monday, April 1, 2019 at St. Peter of Alcantara, with Father Mark Buckner officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory, and again Monday from 8:30 am to 9:30 am at the funeral home. Prayers will be 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
