Jacob Edward Payne

Jacob Edward Payne, 27, of Owensboro, passed away on June 11, 2024, as the result of injuries sustained in an accident. He was born July 21, 1996, in Evansville, Indiana to Charles and Jennifer Maxwell Payne. Jacob was an artist who specialized in painting landscapes, cityscapes, and religious interpretations. He was a member of the Owensboro Art Guild.

Jacob was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School, where he was a member of the Marching Aces and played the trumpet. He enjoyed walking and painting. He loved all types of art and music. Jacob was of the Catholic faith and grew up attending Mass at St. Stephen Cathedral.

Jacob was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Charles and Helen Payne, John and Ann Byrne, Ray and Ruth Sumner, and Stanley and Raynhild Maxwell.

Along with his parents, Jacob is survived by his grandparents, Darrell and Mary Lou Payne and James and Betsy Maxwell; his siblings, Molly (Noah) Cullen, Luke Payne, Abby Payne, and Matthew Payne; and his niece, Amelia Cullen.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial to follow at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with prayers being said at 6:00 p.m., on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and again on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at St. Stephen Cathedral.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of charitable donations made payable to St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter, 1001 W. 7th Street, Owensboro, Kentucky 42301. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
