
Janice Kay Leisure, 76, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born November 26, 1947 in Daviess County to the late Pat and Ruth Curran Patterson. Jan loved children having taught for over 50 years, 27 of which she taught at Highland Elementary School. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Jan enjoyed spending time boating at their lake house on Kentucky Lake and was a swim coach for Town and Country. But most of all, she loved being “Grammy.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Robbie Leisure.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert Ray Leisure; son, Blaine Cartwright; daughter, Shan Cartwright; stepson, Ryan Leisure; three grandchildren, Kalee Fuller, Taylor Fuller, and Madison Leisure; brother, Jerry Patterson (Janice); niece, Janna Patterson (Frantz Pierre-Jerome); and a nephew, Jerrod Patterson (Angela).
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
