Kathryn (Kathy) L. Secoy, a cherished mother, Grammy, sister, aunt, and friend, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on June 5th, 2024, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Born on August 28th, 1964, in Harned, Kentucky, to Harold and Pauline Skaggs.

Kathy’s life was a tapestry of love and dedication. She found joy in her roles as a mother, sister, and grandmother, touching the lives of those around her with her kindness and warmth.

In her journey through life, Kathy was preceded in death by her father Thomas Harold Skaggs, her mother Pauline Skaggs, her oldest brother Thomas Harold Skaggs Jr, sisters Joyce Ann Skaggs and Betty Sue Westcoat, and her beloved husband Thomas Secoy.

She is survived by her daughter Stephanie Blair (Curtis) of Bardstown, KY; son Harold Secoy (Lindsey) of Newburgh, IN; brother Tommy (Pam) Skaggs of Hudson, KY; sister Janet Curry of Sellersburg, IN, and 5 grandchildren: Connor, Judah, Cayley, Scout, and Shiloh.

In recent years, Kathy found companionship and love in her fiancĂ© Harold Young, who brought light and joy into her life. Harold’s son Justin Young (Karli Mattingly) of Campbellsville, KY and grandchildren Hudson and Harrison.

Kathy also cherished her furry companions Daisy and Buster, who were faithful companions through thick and thin.

Throughout her career, Kathy dedicated over 20 years of service to the VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY, where she found fulfillment in serving veterans, embodying compassion and empathy in all her interactions.

Kathy’s love knew no bounds, especially when it came to her grandchildren, whose laughter and smiles brought her immeasurable happiness. She also found solace and joy in her passion for animals and gardening, finding peace and tranquility in the beauty of nature.

Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and compassion, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 3 PM. Visitation will begin at 11 AM on Thursday. All times are central.
