
Mary “Robbie” Hayden Thompson, 87, of Owensboro passed away at her home on June 7, 2024. She was born in Owensboro on November 1, 1936, to the late Francis X. and Catherine Frey Hayden. Mary retired from GE as a sales export administrator for 42 years. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes, where she had a heart for serving during funeral meals and sang in the choir. She enjoyed playing bingo where she was in the Our Lady of Lourdes Bingo club for 20 years. She was a part of the over-the-hill moped club. Mary loved to travel with her husband, Thomas, and as they got older enjoyed staying at Diamond Lake.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Leo Thompson; her sisters Rita (Bill) Alsup and Carol (Donnie) Howard; her brothers Raymond (Wilma) Hayden and PJ Hayden.
Mary is survived by her daughter Kelly (James “Toy”) Barnes; her grandchildren Austin Michael Farris and Thomas Hunter (Maegan) Barnes; her great-granddaughter Ivory Mae Barnes; her sister Ruth Green and her sister-in-law Judy Hayden.
Funeral Mass will be at noon on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of the service at the church.
