
Navada ‘Baylo’ Davis 86, of Island, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville. Navada Christine Wood was born August 9, 1937 in Island, Kentucky to the late Theodore Almond and Arie Bowman Wood, was married to Billy Ray ‘Duck’ Davis on December 19, 1959 and was better affectionately known as ‘Baylo’ to both her family and friends. Baylo’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to her family, a passion for nurturing growth, both in her gardens and in her loved ones, and a legacy of warmth and kindness that touched all who knew her.
Before dedicating her life to being a homemaker, Baylo contributed to her community through her work at General Electric in Owensboro, at Miller’s Market in Island, and Carhartt in Sebree. She retired as a bus monitor for the McLean County Public School System, a role that allowed her to touch the lives of countless children with her kindness and care.
Baylo took great pleasure in the simple joys of life. She was an avid gardener, finding peace and contentment in the care of her flowers. Her gardens were a testament to her nurturing spirit, each bloom a reflection of her love and attention. Baylo’s love extended beyond her gardens to the people around her, and she cherished every moment spent with her family and friends. Her home was a welcoming place where all were greeted with open arms and where memories were made to last a lifetime.
A member of the Calhoun Christian Church, Baylo lived her faith through her actions, demonstrating compassion, generosity, and a commitment to her community that inspired those around her. Her involvement in the church was a source of strength and comfort throughout her life, and her dedication to her faith was evident in the way she lived each day.
Baylo’s legacy is one of unwavering love, nurturing care, and the gentle strength that she exhibited throughout her life. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Baylo’s memory will be cherished, her lessons remembered, and her love felt always.
In addition to her parents, Baylo was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Billy R. ‘Duck’ Davis, who died October 4, 2004 and by a sister, Lois Patton.
Baylo is survived by a son, Kyle ‘Duck’ Davis (Melinda) of Island; a daughter, Renee Howell (Eddie) of Island; four grandchildren, Ryan Carter (Jessica), Adam Carter (Steevie), Arien Davis (Zach Warner), and Tristan Davis (Julian Sallee); 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Artie Wood Morris (Phillip) of Shelbyville; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 7, 2024 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Island Community Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Baylo’s family from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Friday at Musters in Livermore.
