Robert D. Gray “Bob”, 85, of Owensboro passed away Friday, May 24th, 2024 at the Heartford House of Western Kentucky. Bob was born on October 14, 1938 in Princeton, KY to the late Roger E. Gray and Eara Watson Gray. Bob was of the Baptist faith and an active member of Pleasant Memorial Baptist Church.
Early in his life Bob played softball and was on a church league team until the age of 70. He was a UK fan and an avid golfer getting a hole in one at the age of 76. He loved watching his grandkids play sports. He was a Kentucky Colonel and sold insurance for many years. If you had an insurance question Bob would answer it. He was on the board of the ARC of Kentucky for many years. He was also Executive Director for 30 years at the Opportunity Center Workshop.
Left to miss him always is his wife of 26 years, Barbara A. Gray; sons, Britt Edward (Gina) and Chad Robert (Heather); daughter, Holly Lynn Gray; first wife, Sharon; Stepdaughter, McKenzie Varns (Andy); stepson, John Kenton Stone; Grandchildren, A.J. Gray, Alex and Magen Gray, Britt Michael (Lauren), Maddie E. Gray of Bowling Green, KY, Rosie M Varns, Thomas Dean Varns, James John Robert Varns of England; and three Great Grandkids, Orion, Canyon, and Jace.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Brother Denny Campbell will be officiating the service. Visitation will be from 12:00 until the time of service on Tuesday.
