
Raymond “Ray” G. Plucknett, 84, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, March 23 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Son of the late George and Pearl Robbins Plucknett, Ray was born June 27, 1934 in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Mr. Plucknett served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and later as a life member of the American Legion as a Past Department Vice Commander, Area A 2003-2004, D.A.V., and VFW. Ray was also a long standing member of Settle Memorial UMC. He was employed as a Electo-mechanical Design Specialist for General Electric. His work with GE eventually brought him to Owensboro where he retired from GE and MPD.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Plucknett also was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sue Anderson in 2011.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Marion Ruth Plucknett; daughter, Rae Lynn Stiff and husband, Keith of Owensboro; son, Joseph Rene’ Plucknett and wife Claire of Mayfield; three grandchildren, Brian Stiff (Tiffany), Tonya Mimms (Steven), and Brandon Newton (Mila); eight great grandchildren; brothers, Melvin Plucknett (Clara) and Charles Bauman (Cynthia); several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Ray Plucknett will be 2:00 Wednesday, March 27 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service. Entombment with military honors will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. A final salute will be performed at 5:30 pm at the American Legion.
