
Robert Lee “Bob” Tanner, 90, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2019, on the Palliative Care Unit at Baptist East Hospital with his family by his side. Born on September 24, 1928, in Owensboro, KY, he was the son of the late Clarence and Sadie Phillips Tanner.
Bob graduated from Owensboro Tech High School and later served his country in the Army Corps as Drill Sergeant during the Korean War. He worked for the U.S. Post Office in Owensboro as a mail carrier for 30 years. He served Hall Street Baptist Church in Owensboro as a deacon for 34 years, and at the time of his death was a member of West Broadway Baptist Church in Louisville. Bob’s favorite past times included reading, watching Atlanta Braves baseball and UK basketball and spending time with his beloved family. His friendly manner, tender servant’s heart and deep love for Jesus and others will be missed by all.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Loma Linda Brown Tanner; son, Darrin Lee Tanner; sisters, Violet Tanner, Maxine Tanner Kennedy, Elsie Tanner Martin, Delsie Tanner Long, and Barbara Tanner Hinsch; brother, Perry Tanner and many loved ones and dear friends.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Lisa Tanner Weeks; and her husband, John of Louisville; precious granddaughter, Katlin Danae Weeks of Franklin, TN; sister, Eloise Alf of Eau Claire, WI; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the many doctors, nurses, therapists and aides who provided excellent care for Bob. Our special thanks to Terry Tyler of Home Instead Senior Care for his compassionate, Christ-like care.

The funeral will be 12 pm on Tuesday March 26, 2019 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Steven E. Granger officiating . Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm on Monday at the funeral home and from 10 am until 12 pm Tuesday. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens
