Joyce Ann Henry

Joyce Ann Henry, 82, of Owensboro passed away under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born in Hanson, Kentucky on August 25, 1941, to the late Fon and Geneva Riggs Carter. Joyce retired from the school system after working as a teacher’s aid for 22 years. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church.

Joyce enjoyed watching Kentucky basketball and game shows, especially Family Feud. She loved to crochet and make flowers, even owning a flower shop earlier in life. Joyce had the heart of a servant and was ready to help anyone with anything they needed from tutoring to fundraising or just being there during the good times and the bad. She taught Sunday school for many years. Most importantly Joyce was happiest when she was cooking, baking, and spending time with her family, especially watching her grandkids and great-grandkids play sports.

Along with her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Mackey Henry; her son, Mark Henry; her daughter, Sherry Rust; and several brothers and sisters.

Joyce is survived by her son Roger (Pam) Henry; daughter-in-law Rhonda Henry; grandchildren Josh (Blair), Joe (Angel), Lacie (Will), Amber (Jeff), Luke (Leanza), Austin (Brook), and Mackayla; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Helen Lamb; nephew and caregiver, Bart, and many other nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory. Private burial for the immediate family to follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
