Helga Patterson Kohler

July 21, 1935 - March 21, 2019

Helga Patterson Kohler, 83, of Owensboro, originally from Germany, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born July 21, 1935 in Bischofsheim, Germany. Helga was retired from Johnson, Depp, and Quisenberry as an Engineer Technician. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lena Rauch, her husbands, Hubert Patterson and Karl Kohler, and a sister, Ellie Weill.

Helga and her young daughter moved from Germany to the United States in 1957. They eventually moved to Owensboro not being able to speak English and Helga self taught herself to speak it. Helga and her daughter both became United States citizens together in the 1980’s. Helga enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and watching U.K. basketball. She also loved shopping, eating out, and drinking coffee and eating cookies at Panera’s.

Surviving are her daughter, Sylvia Koger and husband David of Utica, Sylvia’s in-laws, Mike and Donna Koger, Ronnie and Linda Sallee, Dwight Koger, and Donnie Koger, all of Owensboro, a niece, Christina Vieth, a nephew, Thomas Rauch, special family friends, Jake and Mary Valdez of Owensboro, and special friends, Inga, and Jennifer Kaelin at BB & T Bank.

The Funeral Service for Helga Kohler will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 25, in Christ Chapel at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-5:00 P.M. Sunday and from 9:00-10:30 A.M. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
