Gordon F. Greene

Gordon F. Greene, of Owensboro, passed away March 18, 2019. He was born December 12, 1936 in Burlington, Vermont to the late Gordon C. Greene and Gertrude F. Greene. Gordie retired from General Electric where he held various positions in Burlington VT, Schenectady NY and Owensboro KY. He was an avid golfer, tennis player, loved boating and shooting. He was a true lover of animals and adored his many pets. Gordie was a proud member of “The Bucket Brigade” (a group of friends who solve world problems and have much fun).

Gordie was preceded in death by son, Mark S. Greene; stepson, Jay (J Tom) Warren; granddaughter, Sara Frugard and sister, Gayle Doty.

Gordie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Anna; his children, Clark Greene (Theresa) of Scotia, NY, Shelley Schmitt (Mark) of Owensboro, KY, Christi Chilson of South Lyon, MI, Sue Parrigin (Lyle) of Bowling Green, KY, and Robert Greene of Parkton, NC. Survivors also include 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday March 23rd from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with services to follow at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro. There will be a burial service Monday March 25th at 10 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery in Owensboro with all family and friends welcome.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Owensboro Humane Society; 3101 West 2nd Street; Owensboro, Kentucky 42301, or Hospice of Western Kentucky; 3419 Wathen’s Crossing; Owensboro, Kentucky 42301. Evelopes will be available at the funeral home.
