
Faye Ashby 86, of Livermore, Kentucky passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 with her son and daughter at her side in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Alice Faye Slaton was born July 6, 1937 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Albert Harley and Helen Elizabeth McCown Slaton. On March 23, 1957, Faye married the love of her life, Ronnie, in a ceremony that would mark the beginning of a partnership filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect.
Faye attended Kentucky Wesleyan College and worked for National Cleaners, the family business in Owensboro, and the Savings and Loan in Livermore, and partnered with Ronnie in agribusiness on their farm in Nuckols.
Faye took great pride in her role as a homemaker yet ensured that she made time to contribute to the well-being of her community and church. She was a dedicated member of the Bells of Ireland Garden Club that beautified the roadways of Owensboro and enjoyed arranging flowers and creating beautiful displays that brought joy to many. She was also a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, Livermore Chapter, that was instrumental in establishing the McLean County Public Library. She was a member and leader of the Democratic Party in McLean County. She was a devoted member of Livermore Missionary Baptist Church, an active choir member, and she loved her Sunday School class. Her commitment to her faith community was unwavering, and she found great solace and strength in her spiritual practices.
Her heart was always open to friends and family, and she cherished the time spent with them. Faye’s home was a place of gathering, laughter, and shared memories. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she shared with them her wisdom, her stories, and her love of life’s simple joys.
Faye will be remembered for her warm smile, her nurturing spirit, and her ability to make everyone around her feel valued and loved.
In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ronnie Ashby, who died May 20, 2018.
Faye is survived by a son, Chris Ashby (Kelly) of Port St. Lucie, Florida; a daughter, Ronda Faye Ashby (Polly Roth) of Keaau, Hawaii; and two grandchildren, Katie Ashby and Zack Ashby.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in the Buck Creek Baptist Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Faye’s family from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday and from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Musters in Livermore.
