David Howard Thompson, Sr., 79, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 5, 1945 in Owensboro, Kentucky to the late Delbert Thompson and Lily Tackett Thompson. David retired from Commonwealth Aluminum and was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandsons, Jaren Campbell and Matt Welsh; and his siblings, James “Jim” Thompson, Bill Thompson, John Thompson, Donald “Doodlebug” Thompson, Libby Zimmerman Howard, Betty Drury, JoAnn Hedges, Peggy Wright, Margie Whitney, and Beulah Duke.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Cassandra Thompson; children, Chris Rhinerson, Shawn Rone, Tara Campbell, David Thompson Jr. (Kay), Steve Thompson (Kathy Gardner), John Thompson (Elizabeth), and Jennifer Lee (Dale); 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Brittney Thompson, Adeline Fulkerson, Kara Foster, and the staff at Hospice of Western Kentucky for the wonderful care they all gave David.
There will be no Visitation or Funeral services.
