Rita Joe McGovern, 89, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, April 23, in Owensboro. She was born February 23, 1935, to the late James B and Agnes Powers McGovern. Rita worked at General Electric and was a Nun for fourteen years. She retired from Moonlite Bar-B-Q where she worked in the kitchen.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Young, Martha Hamilton, Mildred McGovern, Marie Ratliff, William McGovern, Ruth Quinn, James McGovern, Jr., Imogene Quinn, and Bridget Higdon.
She is survived by her caregivers, David and Kim McGovern and a host of niece, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service for Rita will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where prayers will at 6:00 p.m. Visitation Monday will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
