Robert Lee “Bobby” Smith, Jr., 82, of Maceo, Ky, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Heartford House. He was born on February 14, 1942 in Maceo to the late Robert Lee and Dorothy Smeathers Smith. Robert was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Bache in the Bay of Pigs. He was a member of IBEW Local 1 in St. Louis and also worked out of IBEW Local 917 in Meridian, MS. Robert was an animal lover and loved the USA. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Reynolds and a step daughter, Tammy McElwain.
Robert is survived by his wife of 33 years, Shelia Sparks Smith; daughter, Kim Smith Booker (Bobby Hamilton); son, Lee Smith (Bonnie Clayton); step son, Bill “Stormy” (Karen) McElwain; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, David (Mona) Smith and Jimmy (Debbie) Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 2 pm until 4 pm at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel with internment following at Kelly Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Daviess County Animal Shelter.
