
James Frederick Westerfield, 81, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024 at his home. He was born June 6, 1942 in Daviess County to the late Walter and Ollie Hausk Westerfield. He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and retired from Atmos Energy after 30 years of service. Fred and his wife, Phyllis, enjoyed spending time together going to yard sales and haggling for the best price possible. He liked watching UK basketball and was an avid NASCAR fan. Countless hours were dedicated to painting and detailing his wide array of die cast vehicles. Rumor has it, he was part of an Owensboro Seniors scooter gang who
had gotten lost on multiple occasions.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Thomas Westerfield, Bobby Westerfield, Larry Westerfield, and Wanda Murphy.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 60 years, Phyllis Westerfield; children, Wayland Westerfield (Michelle), Glenda Haston (Wendell) and Matthew Westerfield (Kristina); grandchildren, Ashley Westerfield, Alicia Choi (Will), Colten Westerfield, Mason Westerfield, Emily Westerfield, and Brandon Wilson; great-grandchild, Beau Cockrell; and sister, Judy Chapman.
Private family service will be held at a later date. James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of his arrangements.
