Cherrokee Suzzett Carter,73, of Owensboro passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 5, 2024. She was born on December 11, 1950 in Hancock County to the late James Thomas and Anna Sue Lyons Newton. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Cherrokee was preceded in death by her siblings, Marlene Embry, Ray Newton and Marcia Jarnigan.
Cherrokee is survived by her children, Brenda (Laurence) Hahn, Barbara Crowe and Sandy Peirce; grandsons, Tony, Timmy, Tommy and Tyler; granddaughters, Alicia, Jessica, Cortnie, Brandy, Cherrokee Katrina and Laray; 2 sisters, Mary Belle Payne and Nora Ann Embry; 3 brothers, Gregory, Mike and Carey Newton and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews she cherished dearly.
Services are private. Cecil Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
