Aretha Ammons Gorman, 89, of Lewisport, Passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Heartland Villa in Lewisport. She was born on August 12, 1934 to the late Ted and Wanda Bennett Ammons. Aretha was a lifelong member of Lewisport Baptist Church and was an avid Kentucky Wildcat Basketball fan. Aretha and J.W. were married on December 31, 1951. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Gorman; son, Jeff “Bruno” Gorman; siblings, Donna Ammons, Clovis Faught, Mary Ann Kinner and Brenda Gardner.
Aretha is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Jack) Eirwin; son, Mike (Debbie) Gorman; grandchildren, Janine (Ronnie) Wilson, Shane (Ginger) Gorman, Nicole (Jack) Bartlett, Aaron (Missy) Tomer, Jared (Brandi) Eirwin, Brittany (Alex) Eirwin-Maqueda, Austin (Anna) Gorman and Brenna Gorman; several great and great-great grandchildren siblings, Doris Wettstain and Bob (Jeanne) Ammons along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Gibson & Son Funeral Home, Lewisport Chapel with burial following in Lewisport Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewisport Cemetery Association.
