
William “Butch” Knight, 71, of Owensboro, passed away on March 4, 2024, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born May 10, 1952, in Owensboro to the late William Knight, Sr. and Ida Sue Howard Knight. Butch is a Navy Veteran and has dedicated most of his life to a life of service. For the last 25 years, he has helped men in recovery work toward leading a successful life for numerous recovery programs including “New Horizons.” Butch was also a member of Christ Community Church.
For many years Butch spent his spare time coaching youth sports at Eastern Little League. He enjoyed going to the beach, watching UK athletics, and loved animals, especially his pets.
Along with his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Knight.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy Gengelbach Knight; daughter, Amanda (Stacy) Napper; grandson, Cameron Daugherty; siblings, Steve (Donna) Knight and Mike (Pam) Knight; and several nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Christ Community Church, with Myke Templeton presiding. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday, March 11, 2024, at the church.
