David Ralph Bohannon, 70, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky with loving family at his side. He was born May 12, 1953 in Louisville to the late Ralph and Irene Brimm Bohannon. David received his Bachelor’s Degree from University of Louisville and received his MBA from Murray State University. David worked for the Owensboro Fire Department from 1978 until his retirement in 2002. He devoted his life to the safety and well being of others. He later worked for Siemens Generation Services. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a Louisville Cardinals fan. David enjoyed grilling out with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Hartman in 2006.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Bohannon; children, Jessie Bohannon, Chris Bohannon, Kasey (Michael) Sharpe, Chris Barker (April), and Jeremy (Racheal) Barker; grandchildren, Ben Bohannon, Ellie Sharpe, Emmett Sharpe, Chase (Taylor) Barker, Tyler Barker, Jayden Barker, JayCee Barker, James Woodby, and Jesse Woodby; two great-grandchildren, Max Barker and Jack Barker; a brother, James Bohannon (Kitty); many nieces, nephews, and friends; and his dog, Zippy.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday with prayers at 6 p.m. and after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
